the c-hills have wasted little time in indulging in their brief respite from playing shows.
in fact, they've miraculously found time to actually practice for once.
better yet, they've re-visited their love affair with film: "y tu mama tambien" (so extraordinarily smart and sexy that pepito saw it twice), woody allen's "sweet and lowdown" (the very movie the c-hill's first EP is proudly named after), and the latest dogme 95 offering, "italian for beginners" (very romantic! and far more endearing than "mifune".) aside from the cinema, elbert eagerly went and saw NPR's very own
terry gross and this american life's host, ira glass, speak down at
stanford university. christine and pepito thumbed their noses at academia, and skipped a free lecture by derrida. instead, c and p hit the streets and danced to the electrifying les savy fav at bottom of the hill and then a few nights later got their disco on with
bjorn again at the cavernous fillmore.
on sunday, the c-hills spent a weekend slumberparty with the skyflakes at their luxurious milpitas estate. in between deliciously home cooked meals (courtesy of the skyflakes!), board games at midnight, and spontaneous soccer practice, the c-hills and skyflakes both managed to record two songs for their upcoming split 7" on f.u. records.
the clarendon hills recorded the soon to be wussy twee pop classic, "domestics", and a loving if amatuerish rendition of "in january" by late 80's east bay kings of pop, brent's tv.
we are playing an all ages show at 924 gilman street on saturday, may 25th.
