six of us (me, christine, mimi, miya, erin, and antares) drove 40 minutes last night to concord to see for ourselves the girl rock fury known as SKYE. needless to say, the whole night was fucking unreal. the bourbon street bar and grill was in a strip mall right next to a bank. the stage was small and surrounded by chain link fence. exodus is playing this weekend. it was DIVA NIGHT last night.

we walk in at 9:20pm. and there they fucking are in real life! THE SKYE GIRLS. michaela had braided extensions in her hair. mariah was wearing skintight hot pink pants. and jaqi, at 5'4", was looking HOTT. they are on-stage sound checking. but miya notices something peculiar: THEY HAVE NO AMPS WHATSOEVER. the two SKYE GIRLS are trying to plug in directly to the PA system, and it sounds terrible. the sound guy is doing his best to accomodate them. later, michaela approaches our table. "so do you all want to see a GIRL BAND tonight???" and we responded, "hell yeah!" and she says, "well the bar owner might not let us play because they are afraid everyone will leave." immediately i got up and found the bar proprietor. "hey. when are the SKYE GIRLS going on???" she says "uh... fifteen minutes." then over the PA, the bartender announces, "IT IS DIVA NIGHT! FOR THE NEXT 15 MINUTES ITS $2 SHOTS FOR LADIEEEEEZ!!!"

christine, mimi, miya, and erin go take advantage of this and tip their glasses and down vodka stoli and jack daniels. anticipation and inebriation is definitely mounting for the SKYE GIRLS! FINALLY, FINALLY... they hit the stage. michaela is out of her sweatshirt and is wearing this crazy HOT PINK BACKLESS HALTER TOP thing. we are talking some major mams hanging out. they open with their hit song "CRAZY" (see their now legendary live video) and the six of us rush up to the front and literally go CRAZY. their live presence is undeniable with michaela sexy moves and groovin bass lines. after the song (actually after every song), michaela goes: "THANK YOU! YOU GUYS RULE! REMEBER: S-K-Y-E GIRLS.COM!!!!" they also did a wicked cover of nancy sinatra's "these boots are made for walkin'" but cleverly twist the lyrics to "the skye is made for rockin' and that's just what we'll do... and if you don't like our rockin', we'll walk away from you!" other highlights included michaela's backhanded remarks to the sound guy. "YOU GUYS LOVED THAT SONG, RIGHT??? WELL IT SOUNDS MUCH BETTER WHEN *YOU CAN HEAR THE GUITAR!!!*" then she glared at the sound guy. another song michaela explained was a "dance jam" that was all about "gangstas, ho's, biotches, and her THONG." another song was for the ladies and she exhorted every lady to pick a man in the house and spank them.

at one point, michaela coyly took off her high heels, and saucily hinted that if "we were good" she'd take off some more later. during the SKYE GIRLS set, some random dude kept buying them and miya, erin, christine, and mimi drinks. the choreography, chemistry, and synergy of SKYE GIRLS was A-MAZING. they rocked the house with ten songs. after which, the bar turned into a total dance-freak show with drunken, white 30somethings getting their drunk ass groove on. i cant believe this show was FREE.
